To “Strip” or not to?
We have come a long way from the days of surgical procedures being the only option for treatment of varicose veins. In the past and sadly in Australia even till today, “Stripping ” surgery was the only option available.
The reality is the outcomes have been documented and there is a 50% chance the varicose veins will return with surgical treatment.
Fast forward to the future (these treatments that have been available for at least the last 18 years) we have the more minimally invasive options through endovenous laser ablations or radiofrequency ablations. The success rate especially with the endovenous approach is closer to 100%.
Then begs the question, which would be your choice, if you were given the options.
