The good news is that a large proportion of women who develop varicose veins in their first pregnancy will find the veins improve 6 to 12 weeks after delivery.
Unfortunately after the 3rd pregnancy there is a 60% chance of varicose veins remaining even after delivery.
Now what generally happens is that there is an increased risk of developing varicose veins during every pregnancy.
Therefore if you did not develop it for the first one, you may develop it for the second or 3rd.
We generally wait at least 3 months before any intervention or treatment. We generally treat in between pregnancies rather than after completion of children. This is to ensure the expecting mother does not have to endure very painful symptoms late in her pregnancy.
