Should you wait to get your veins treated after you have had all your children?
- If you have had varicose veins before pregnancy they will certainly get worse after your first pregnancy and can cause you to be very uncomfortable in the later part of your pregnancy – In these cases it may be better to treat before getting pregnant
- If you have never had any varicose veins and they start to be visible after delivery of your first child but cause you no symptoms you could wait after your second pregnancy or 3rd pregnancy.
- If you develop varicose veins after your first pregnancy and they do not settle and cause heaviness and aching. You want to treat them before your next pregnancy as they will only worsen and be very symptomatic during your second pregnancy.
It is important to note that varicose veins are not treated during pregnancy which limits what can be done if they become very bothersome during the pregnancy.
