The Iceberg and Varicose Veins

Most people when they think of varicose veins, they think of bulging, unsightly ropy looking veins protruding from the skin.

 

Unfortunately there is another side that often gets missed.

 

Often by the time they notice something on the surface there may be a larger plexus of abnormal veins just below the skin that are not visible. Even more the other leg that looks great from the outside maybe hiding veins and be worse than the other leg that has started showing signs of varicose veins.

 

This is the “iceberg” I often allude to patients. What you see may only be the tip of the iceberg when there is more under the skin.
