Red and Sore Varicose Veins

Firstly if you ever notice hard lumps, soreness or redness in your varicose veins seek medical treatment immediately.

The reason most commonly for them to become red and sore is because you have developed a clot within the varicose vein. This is known as a superficial venous thrombosis.

They can sometimes look like an infection as they are red and hot but the culprit is the clot causing inflammation within the vein wall.

The challenge and bigger danger is potentially also developing a deep vein thrombosis that can coexist in 1 or both legs at the same time. These can be life threatening as they can move and go into your lungs, heart or brain.

If you are not sure, get it checked.
