Men and Spider Veins

Spider veins, or telangiectasias, are more common in women than in men.

Part of the reason for this is the predominance of female hormones in the form of progesterone and estrogen.

Men, however, can also get spider veins and here are some of the reasons:

  • They have large varicose veins, which can lead to spider veins on their legs.
  • They have a strong family history of spider veins.
  • They have higher levels of circulating female hormones that can predispose them to spider veins.
