How long will it take for my varicose veins to worsen if left untreated?
This really depends on many factors but the quick answer is that it is unknown. I wish I had a crystal ball to tell you.
There are some patients that have had a localised area of varicose veins that have remained some what the same for over 10 years and have not had any symptoms. Other than the unsightliness, they have not been bothered by it.
There are others that from the time they first noticed it in one leg, have then noticed new veins on their other leg and it has become symptomatic in less than a year.
Factors that contribute to worsening like age when it first started, being overweight, hormonal factors as well we pregnancy play a major role on the progression.
