Getting Back to Sports after Varicose Vein Treatment?

Dr Gan talks recovery post varicose vein treatment:

I actually encourage sports and exercises but sometimes it may be a good idea to put it on hold immediately after treatment. A general rule of thumb is 2 weeks after treatments to take it easy with exercises that place a lot of pressure on your legs. This could include squats, heavy cycling or even classes that involve a lot of jumping and impact on your lower limbs. It really depends on severity and how you feel personally.

If you over exert yourself, you will be sore. It is only natural after having treatments for this to occur. It does not particularly affect the outcome or stir up what has been done. On the flip side, if you feel great a week after your treatments, you can gradually increase the intensity and start exercising early. Bear in mind, you will be walking daily but probably not at the level you want to exert if you exercise often.

As always check in with your treating doctor before embarking on intense exercise or strenuous team sports.
