What are the risk of a DVT after treatment

This really depends on type of treatment. If you have had surgery – Specifically stripping surgery, your risk of a DVT or deep vein thrombosis is anywhere between 0.4% to 5.4%.

Again this data is varied as some places do not routinely check after treatment so many asymptomatic patients may be missed. If you have had radio frequency ablation it is anywhere between 0 to 16% again varied due to multiple factors including technique. With endovenous laser ablations the risk is further reduced to 0 to 7.7%.

Based on the above numbers it appears that surgery has the lowest risk, but the reality in many cases is that prophylaxis is added for patients having surgery which reduces the risk and also in many cases it does not get checked so the numbers are definitely higher.

Overall the risk of a DVT post laser is very, very low and much lower than surgery.
